To become a driving instructor you will need to pass three tests within a two year period. The tests are as follows:
Part 1 – Theory Test: a combination of questions and hazard perception test. For this training you will receive advice and a free CD containing all the questions and hazard perception tests. This test can be taken as many times as needed to pass.
Part 2 – Driving Test: for this you will receive an average of 20 hours for advanced training but this may vary due to your level of experience. Only three attempts are permitted to pass this test.
Part 3 – Instructional Test: due to The Driving Standards Agency, you will have to complete a minimum of 40 hours of instructor training before you are permitted to take the test. Only three attempts are permitted to pass this test.
